Amen. The bottom 50% of earners, of which my wife and I are two, pay in 3% of all federal tax revenue and get vastly more back than that. If poor people can't become richer even under those circumstances, it's their fault, not the fault of the rich.
Far from owing money last year, my family got money from the government for the Foreign Tax Credit, the Child Tax Credit and the Additional Child Tax Credit. I invested that money, and if only all of the bottom 50% invested the money they get from this lunacy so that they improved their standing in the world, it would be a lot more palatable to the Right and Center (where I consider myself to stand). What did the IRS do in response to our tax return? They pointed out that according to it, we were also entitled to the Making Work Pay tax credit, and so they applied that, sending us another $800.
I hate redistributive policies. They're a race to the bottom, supporting ideas that can't stand on their own. I'm a capitalist, so I'll take the money of idiots, including those in the government, but if there were any way to throw the money back in their faces and have it actually make them wake up-- to have it actually change things-- I'd do it. I'll vote against their ability to do more of it. I can take care of myself fine, thanks, and so can most of the people Democrats are pushing codependence upon.
