Border Sheriffs has a New Look

Now that Border Sheriffs has a new Chairman and a new Board of Directors we are proud to take the wraps off our new website.
Border Sheriffs came about as a suggestion from a listener on KFYI’s Jim Sharpe Show. The idea is to raise money for the legal defense of Sheriffs such as Cochise County’s Larry Dever. In addition to Dever, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu endorsed the effort. Former Coconino County Sheriff Joe Richards serves on the Board of Directors. Border Sheriffs is chaired by Yavapai County businessman Buz Mills.
Sheriff Babeu stated, “There is now a mechanism for the people of Arizona to support law enforcement that supports SB 1070.”
Border Sheriffs is a direct response to the lawsuits filed by the ACLU and a dozen other open border activists against the Sheriffs of Arizona. While the ACLU may have deep pockets to bury Sheriffs such as Larry Dever in paperwork, not every county in the state has the resources to battle this assault on the rule of law. The ACLU and the open borders crowd are determined to prevent Sheriffs in Arizona from enforcing 1070. Border Sheriffs wants to give law enforcement a voice in this critical debate. The Governor’s Legal Defense Fund is doing a fine job of defending the law. Border Sheriffs is raising funds to defend law enforcement.
Sheriff Dever stated, “Border Sheriffs is giving me the resources to go toe-to-toe with the liberal elites who don’t want me enforcing illegal immigration laws.”
Border Sheriffs was originally overseen by the Legacy Foundation based in Iowa. As that effort grew, it became necessary to transfer the operation to a local organization with a local Board of Directors.
The new website contains background on the challenges facing Sheriffs on or near the border, news articles on the illegal immigration issue, and instructions on how to donate.
Mills stated, “The ACLU and the Obama Administration have declared war on Arizona’s attempts to fight illegal immigration. It’s time we sent the open borders crowd a message that this state won’t be pushed around.”

NAPOLITANO IGNORES ICE ARREST OF DRUG AND HUMAN TRAFFICKER ‘SPOTTER’ IN ARIZONA MOUNTAINS
Arizona Victims Speak Out at Press Conference Highlighting Illegal Activity
Phoenix, AZ – On Wednesday Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, along with Arizona victims of illegal immigrant activities, held a press conference to detail illegal ‘spotter’ activity by illegal immigrants near the Sawtooth Mountains in Silverbell.
“ICE first made the arrest, but Homeland Security Janet Napolitano still acts as if everything is just fine in Arizona,” said Sheriff Babeu. “These Arizona residents fear for their safety and are afraid to leave their residences because spotters watch their every move.
“Our citizens are forced to live in constant fear because the federal government has refused to take the necessary action to secure our borders immediately. We cannot afford to wait any longer for help in Pinal County and across the state.”
In an effort to enforce laws curbing illegal activity, Sheriffs Babeu and Larry Dever of Cochise County have established www.bordersheriffs.com to help combat lawsuits brought by the ACLU and the Justice Department against the Sheriffs and explore opportunities to affirmatively bring action against the Federal Government.
On Tuesday, July 27th, 2010 a Pinal County resident living near the Sawtooth Mountains in Silverbell was flying his private plane when he observed an individual standing near the opening of a cave near Wild Cat Peak. The resident felt that the individual may have been a “spotter” for drug and human trafficking activity and called the U.S. Border Patrol to report the activity.
U.S. Border Patrol and ICE responded and located the “spotter” who was an illegal alien living in the cave. He was apprehended and deported back to Mexico.
On Tuesday September 7th, 2010 at 7 p.m. the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a homeowner reporting a residential burglary near the base of the Sawtooth Mountains. The victim, who lives alone, returned home from work at 7 p.m. and discovered her residence had been burglarized. Taken from her home were numerous rifles, pistols, a shotgun, food, batteries, socks, flashlights, night vision equipment and binoculars. Evidence indicates that several individuals carried the stolen property through the desert and into the Sawtooth Mountains up near Wild Cat Peak.
BorderSheriffs.com was formed to help provide Arizona sheriffs such as Sheriff Dever a sufficient legal defense to take on the Obama Administration, the ACLU and others opposing a secure border and enforcement of SB1070.
