I don’t think so.

How could anyone possibly blame Obama for this economy? This President has been cleaning up the economic mess made by the GOP and Bush during their 8-year tenure. I think the entire country recognizes the GOP fault for this economic mess (hence the tea party arm of the GOP), and no one wants to return to GOP failed economic policies. The GOP should hide their heads in shame, and should attempt to redeem themselves by cooperating with policies intended to move this country forward and out of the hole they dug.

The Republican and conservative media spin machine began slamming Obama only weeks into his presidency, and by about 6 months in were already calling his approach to turning the economy around a “failure.” This despite the fact that the loss of jobs slowed appreciably, and in fact, more jobs have been slowly returning to our economy. It’s amazing that anyone would expect our economy to come booming back even one year after Obama came into office – when the criticisms really started hitting their peak. Is ANYONE out there even aware of how long it takes to turn around an entire economy? It wasn’t Obama who started the “bailout” strategy. mind you. Only 2/3 of the stimulus funds have been spent to this point, and according to an overwhelming majority of economists, those that HAVE been spent have had a significant (albeit sometimes subtle) effect on helping many industries get back on their feet. Obama’s investments in health care and infrastructure are LONG-TERM strategies; attempts to make bold, difficult decisions to help our country for the long term. In today’s society, with its focus on 10-second snippets and short-term satisfaction, it’s very difficult to get people to see how long it takes to turn an entire national system around. Let’s not be in such a hurry to return to the downward spiral the previous administration led us into. Give these ideas a chance to “gel.”

I DO think so! Republican policies are what led to this meltdown and now they’re promising more of the same.

If we are having a hard time digging out of the hole we are in we should at least remember who dug the hole. Republicans should be a whole lot more remorseful of their failed policies.

Absolutely right, President Obama. With the past track and proven record of how the Republican Bush administration brought down the US economy in the past decade, we can believe that the Republicans will bring us another catastrophic decade if they control the house or senate.
