Sorry, “barbhop”, but 7 out of 8 of Bush’s reign enjoyed a REPUBLICAN majority Congress! The Democrats didn’t get a majority until all the people in the country rebelled against the devastation the Republicans were causing to our lives and the world!! Even though Clinton left Daddy’s little boy with a budget SURPLUS, he blew it!!

Sorry, Democrats obviously have better memories than Republicans!

Obama doesn’t HAVE to put any “butter and sugar” on the health care law! The provisions in it are already EXCELLENT~~~SO excellent, in fact, that in the Republicans’ new proclamation, they say they plan to dismantle Obama’s Plan, and then RE-create it, almost verbatim. The ONLY difference would be: THEN the Republicans would get credit for the national health care plan, instead of Obama and the Democrats.

So THEN, when the Republicans unveil “their” plan, the EXACT SAME PLAN would magically change into a “good” plan! If the gullible weren’t so easily conned by the Right’s propaganda machine, they would have listened to the facts of the current plan, which are great. Obviously, the Republican Congresspeople did, cuz now they pledge to COPY it.

However, — House Minority Leader John Boehner, introducing the GOP’s 21-page Pledge to America , proclaimed: “And the point we make in this preamble to our pledge is that we are not going to be any different than what we have been.”

OMG!! THAT proclamation by Boehner should be enough to SCARE EVERYbody, EVEN the Republicans, who can also see what 7 years of a Republican Congress and 8 years of Bush did to our economy! Then they PLEDGE they are not going to “be ANY DIFFERENT than what we HAVE been!” EEEEEK!!

The Republicans got us to where we are – almost 10 years of G.W.Bush and his absurd trillion-dollar wars and government of the rich by the rich for the rich.

All the GOP is likely to do is administer the final shot to the head to this stupid nation.

Reading the posts above, I almost wish they would.

Obama doesn’t know how disaterous his administration is or “maybe he does know”.
That is his purpose. By the way, do you see an American flag in the photo behind this socialist, liberal, madman?

I have my disagreements with Obama and the Democrats, but anyone thinking that the Republicans would do better this time around than they did last time under Bush is lacking an ability to grasp the obvious. Now that the Republicans have come out with their latest Contract on America there’s no room for doubt that they are absent any new ideas for doing anything to solve any of the problems our nation is facing.

Spending won’t decrease under the Republicans. The difference will be that they will spend our tax dollars on war and the rich. (And ironically they will send the poor and Middle Class to fight their wars while they make the profits.) The Republicans have one objective, to regain power and stay in power so that they can continue to pass legislation that promotes trickle down economics so that the nation’s wealthiest can continue to be the only segment of our population whose wealth is increasing while the Middle Class is left withering on the vine.

I recommend keeping the Democrats in power and demanding from THEM what you want from our government. They tend to listen better that the Republicans.

But until we ban lobbying and implement publicly financed elections a tiny minority of wealthy citizens will continue to make our government’s decisions for us. That’s how our system works and until we change our system, our government will remain the same. It’s common sense.

Republicans, show me one good concrete thing the “Pledge to America” will do for working class citizens, because every independent analysis I’ve read has showed that this proposal would destroy jobs. It would be successful at reducing the deficit, but at too great a cost.
